Together for a good cause! This was the motto of the SGP members on July 16 and 17. After a break of 2 years, a charity festival with the name "Africa Festival Wiesbaden" took place in Wiesbaden on the festival grounds of the company Gramenz. The festival united various exhibitors around the African culture and so guests and participants could enjoy African artists, traditional clothing and music and the delicious African cuisine.

And the event SGP also had two booths, details follow below. Overall, visitors to the festival had the opportunity to be taken on a little journey through the continent through the diversity and representation of different African cultures. But the best part of it was that everything was for a good cause.

So visitors could not only enjoy delicious dishes, but also actively participate in the SHE ENVISIONS project by making their own lip balm, lipstick and candles in the African look with Ingrid. 

Fun and collaboration for a positive outcome

The success is reflected in the income of 1.708,52€. After deducting the expenses for the utensils and for the food in the amount of 333,20€, a remaining amount of 1.375,32€ came about, which will completely benefit our school project in Bafou Dschang as a donation. 

We thank the whole team and all helpers for their great effort and the company Gramenz for letting SGP participate in this beautiful event.

Der Beitrag Wiesbadener Afrika Festival erschien zuerst auf Sustainable Growth Projects e.V..

Some weeks ago the elementary school "École Publique de Djuttitsa" in Cameroon Bafou Dschang was caught by a storm and completely destroyed. You can find pictures and more details here (Link).

Our original plan to finance a green area and some school benches has therefore been expanded to include a larger vision: we would like to support the students on their educational path and restore an entire building. In order to initiate the first step and to win more donors for our project, we are planning a series of events and fundraisers.  

We hereby cordially invite you to the first SGP Fitness Day ! With Elvis, SGP member and trained medical fitness trainer, we want to get fit together and help fund the elementary school in the process. 

For this purpose, we will hold an open-air fitness course on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Reisinger-Anlagen (behind Wiesbaden main train station). We charge a fee of 5€ per participant, 100% of which will be donated to the school's restoration project. Today we would like to introduce you to one of our projects: The fountain construction 

In 2020, we launched the association's first project, the construction of a public well in Togo, in cooperation with "Humanity First Germany e.V.". 

Because although most of us take access to clean drinking water for granted today, it is still not guaranteed for everyone. An arduous path and many hardships are just some of the efforts for the local community.  

But why did we devote ourselves to this project in particular? 

We want to support multiple improvements in the quality of life. A well not only provides access to clean water, but also saves time. People no longer have to travel long distances to get drinking water. This saved time benefits other activities, such as gainful employment or community work.  

Through our project, we hope to improve health. The health risks from unpurified water sources will thus be minimized.  In addition, the risk of accidents on long walks, sometimes in the dark, will be reduced.  

Finally, we would like to emphasize cooperation. We say: Together we can achieve more! For this reason, 100% of the donations collected are also passed on to "Humanity First Germany e.V." for the construction of wells in Togo and the project is supervised in close cooperation.  

Our cooperation with "Humanity First Deutschland e.V." is based on our common focus on sustainability and the more than 20 years of experience the association already has in planning and implementing long-term projects.

SGP is an association that was founded by friends who have become a family over the years. As an association, we are constantly evolving and today SGP e.V. is backed by twelve volunteer members, some of them from different cultures (as of March 2021).

Whether we grew up bicultural or not, we are happy to be able to give back to the world through the association's activities. The idea of leaving a positive footprint that we can be proud of drives us to continuously pursue our vision of creating equal opportunities worldwide.

We had the chance to enjoy a proper as well as "free" school education. Some still took the opportunity afterwards and completed an apprenticeship or a degree. Many of us have already arrived in the professional world and can earn their own money through their personal skills and preferences. But to get there, it was just necessary to have a solid school education.

Many people are aware that we enjoy a high standard of living here in Germany and that we are therefore privileged.
But gratitude is not enough to bring about change.

We ultimately - if we're honest - don't lack the time, but rather the motivation most of the time to leave a positive impact in the world.

What would motivate you to become active or, in other words, are there other reasons why you don't do volunteer work?

We are sure that there are suitable options for each individual person,
to participate either actively or passively.

Today we would like to introduce ourselves

We at Sustainable Growth Projects e. V. are a non-profit organization that was officially founded in 2020. By supporting individual projects, we pursue the goal of showing people in predominantly the countries of the Global South new perspectives.

As our association name already reveals, a sustainable implementation of the consciously
selected projects are particularly important. The people should experience as long-term a benefit as possible through our support: i.e. we provide help for self-help.

Since we would like to offer you as good an insight as possible into our club life and activities, from now on you will learn everything about our club, get to know our founding members and gain interesting insights behind the scenes of our club.

Focusing on our Projects, we will also address current issues.

Transparency is our top priority - and that is what we would like to offer you as well

We welcome you to the first blog post of SGP e. V.!  

2020 has been a very special year, as for many individuals and institutions, also for our association, Sustainable Growth Projects (SGP). Our association is public since fall 2020 with the registration in the register of associations of Wiesbaden and our website went live. 

The foundation of an association can be compared to the construction of a building

Before construction can begin, a building design must be prepared. Accordingly, we have already prepared the basic concept for SGP in late summer 2019, before the registration in the register of associations. 

While 2019 was used for team finding & building, defining the association's goals and processes, in 2020 the "construction work" began. The website testifies that the "outer facade" is in place. Shortly before the lockdown phase, the entire team had met in person in Wiesbaden, only to learn soon after that this would not be possible for the next few months. Nevertheless, we managed to organize a first small kick-off event for friends and family at the end of September 2020, where we were able to present our association concept. What did we spend the rest of the year doing?  

With the "interior" of our association: What functions will there be? Who will take on which responsibilities? What do we start with and how do we work together? 

We worked out the answers to all these questions over the course of the year, in calls, in virtual workshops, and sometimes in a face-to-face meeting of individual members. 

Consequently, what have we learned in 2020? Just having a plan and building the "outer façade" alone is not enough. Because even more so, when the "building" becomes visible, it is essential to provide clarity about the function of the individual "rooms of the building" and also the overarching reason for its existence. Our association members will certainly all agree that much has been done so far for the "interior", but that the journey is not yet over. 

 
From now on it's showtime and our shared journey begins!

We are a non-profit association dedicated to supporting educational projects and infrastructure projects worldwide. With your commitment and support, we have been able to make great progress over the past years and have a positive impact on the lives of many people around the world.

Thanks to your generous donations, we have managed to equip a school in Cameroon with desks, chairs and tables for teaching and learning, thus supporting the construction of usable classrooms. We have also invested in a well pairing project, creating a sustainable infrastructure that enables people to have access to clean water and improve their living conditions.

However, we are far from finished. Our work continues and we hope you will continue to support us to bring about positive change in the communities that need it most.
